Valley Mountain Bikers & Hikers 
Release of Liability

PLEASE NOTE

By submitting this registration form you release and relieve Valley Mountain Bikers and Hikers, its members and officers, from any personal liability for any personal injury from your participation in the 2025 SprocKidz Summer Program. You acknowledge that you are participating freely and take full responsibility for your own safety and that of any minors in your care. By submitting this form you will take no action against Valley Mountain Bikers and Hikers, its members or officers, nor will any demand be made for reimbursement of expenses incurred for the treatment of personal injuries.


The 2025 season

Dates: June 9- July 30; Mondays and Wednesdays, 6:30-8 p.m.

Meeting Location: Matanuska Lakes State Recreation Area (Mat-Su Greenbelt). Parking will be at the University of Alaska Experiment Farm Kin-Win Trailhead off E. Cottrell-Campus Dr.

Sessions will progress to the Government Peak Recreation Area in Hatcher Pass later in the season.

Fee: $150 for first Kid; $50 each additional kid. (Includes required Family Membership in VMBaH and SprocKidz fee)

Program capacity: Number limited to the first 150 to sign up.

Coaches: We need coaches! No coaching experience needed; we will train. Contact sprockidz@gmail.com if you are interested.

SprocKidz meets on Monday & Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8 p.m. Please have your kid in the parking lot ready to go 10-15 minutes prior to start time so they can meet with their group as groups leave promptly at 6:30pm. 

Other special ride days, trails maintenance days and the end of season party will be announced.

A SAMPLING OF WHAT WE'LL COVER IN THE PROGRAM:

· Balance and bike handling

· Proper gear shifting

· Descending technique (just say no to "endos" by “going moto”)

· Ascending technique (being the “grasshopper”)

· Cornering technique (leading with your head and shoulders)

· Front wheel lift

· Back wheel lift

· The Bunny Hop

· The Track Stand

· On-trail bike maintenance

· Food and hydration principles

· Single track practice

· Trail etiquette for mountain biking and encountering other trail users

SprocKidz is a volunteer program and your family's participation is greatly appreciated. You will be able to select a volunteer opportunity on this registration form.
